Our Hockey School Philosophy

Andrews Hockey Growth Programs have been training hockey players of all abilities since 1979 with the understanding that successful development as a hockey player is the product of complete personal growth. Through scientifically researched on-ice training programs, professionally developed off-ice training and well balanced classroom sessions on topics such as nutrition and goal-setting, we strive to stress the importance of healthy living and personal excellence.

Over 20 years of continual research, improvement and experience with hockey players from around the globe is translated into the teaching of every drill, lesson, and exercise. Our staff are hand picked; these individuals love hockey, love teaching and are dedicated to providing the best instruction and assessment as well as serving as everyday role models.

The Program has trained many athletes over the years; Tampa Bay Lightning Star Brad Richards came for 11 straight summers. Programs such as the Atlantic Hockey Showcase (top Bantam, Midget & Junior Players), Atlantic Female Prospect Camp (high end female players) and the Young Guns Program (talented Novice, Atom & Peewee players) have helped thousands of young players achieve their dreams of playing Prep School, Junior, University or Professional Hockey including many other NHLer’s such as Montreal’s Michael Ryder, Philadelphia’s Randy Jones and Edmonton’s Patrick Thoresen.

The Signature Foundational Program is one that Sidney Crosby attended for 10 years where he perfected his skating and puck skills. Also offered are High Performance Elite Training Programs, Hockey For Tots (Ages 4-6), Defensemen’s Specialty Camps as well as the increasingly popular Magic Hands Stick Handling/Art of Scoring Goals. A bonus of the school is vacationing at Canada’s Golf capital, surrounded by beautiful salt water beaches!

Visit our new state of the art facility on the campus of the University of Prince Edward Island! The on ice training takes place at MacLauchlan Arena. For your convenience, MacLauchlan Arena has two NHL size ice surfaces and 13 dressing rooms. The arena also hosts a an East Side Mario's Eatery and vending machines so participants and their families can purchase meals, snacks and beverages.

Andrews Hockey operates a PuckMasters Training Centre in the building. PuckMasters is a synthetic ice rink used to train players one on one with their own private coach!

The complex also contains an Olympic style aquatics centre that includes a 25 meter competetive pool with diving boards and a lesiure pool with a water slide. The arena and pool complex are attached to the UPEI Field House which boasts a large gymnasium, weight room, aerobics room, walking track, squash courts and Physiotherapy Clinic.
