Andrews Sports Science Research & Training Centre is
located at the MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown , PEI
and is the region's premier sports training facility. Our
methods are based on the scientific rationale of athletic
performance and the practical components of each
sport. The New Andrews Sport Science Research &
Training Centre offers:
Kris MacPhee, Director of Sport Conditioning, holds a Masters of Sports Science Degree with a Coaching and Fitness Management Major from the United States Sports Academy. He also holds an Arts Degree from UPEI. He is a Certified Personal Trainer, and a Certified Sports Conditioning Specialist. Kris is a former professional hockey player having spent time with the ECHL's Dayton Bombers and Charlotte Checkers as well as the CHL's Laredo Bucks. He played his junior hockey for the OHL Peterborough Petes before embarking on a successful career with the UPEI Panthers. He is an assistant coach of the UPEI Panthers, and currently scouts for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. He trains many Professional, College and Junior A players as well as teams and individuals year round.
Kris MacDonald, Sport Conditioning Specialist, graduated from Acadia University with a degree in Kinesiology in 2010. He currently works at Andrews Sports Science, Research, and Training Centre. Kris grew up playing in the Pownal Minor Hockey System, and played one year of Major Midget hockey with Cornwall Thunder before starting his Junior Hockey career with the Summerside Capitals. He then played for P.E.I. Rocket and Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL before finishing his Junior Hockey career the same way he started, playing for the Summerside Capitals. He then went on to play 3 years at Acadia University.

This program is for existing professional hockey players as well as elite junior and collegiate players looking to reach their potential in the sport. This program is advanced in both the effort required and the training methods used. These workouts are designed to prepare the athletes for their particular training camps but also give the athlete an advantage over the competition.
This new and exciting program is designed for high level hockey players. This program provides the athlete with a customized summer training program. Athletes who enroll in the take home program also benefit from verbal, email, and video feedback with a certified trainer over the duration of their training schedule. There are many programs that are available to hockey players these days but this program's provides the personalized, professional, and directed approach needed to see real results on the ice.

The sport conditioning program teaches and develops the primary aspects of sport performance which include speed, agility, core strength, flexibility, stability, and energy system training. Whether you are looking to improve rotary power for baseball or generate explosive speed for soccer, we will provide the professional instruction and guidance need to achieve your goals.

Team training focuses on sport specific movement and sport performance which include speed, agility, core strength, flexibility, and stability. We take advantage of the latest training tools such as: speed ladders, twist toning bands, TRX training system, Bosu, Stability balls, spin bikes, balance boards and discs, and battle ropes. Total team training is a great alternative for any team looking for great team building activities. Total team training is circuit style training with 3 – 4 stations which include: off ice hockey specific technical training, off ice physical training, synthetic ice training, and rapid shot training.
